Hi, I’m Lesley, the artist behind HopeLesley Hooked. My journey to becoming a fiber artist has been shaped by resilience, creativity, and hope.

Over 25 years ago, I was diagnosed with migraine disease, and today I live with intractable chronic migraine, which means I experience symptoms every single day that no medication has been able to control fully. In 2018, I had to leave the workforce and move back in with my parents as my health declined. Some days, and even months, were spent unable to leave my bed or darkened room because of the intense pain, light and sound sensitivity, dizziness, and other debilitating symptoms.

Alongside the physical toll came heavy depression and anxiety, making life feel unbearably small and isolating. In the midst of that darkness, two things gave me light: plants and crochet. Plants brought beauty and wonder into my “migraine cave,” and crochet gave me a way to create, connect, and find joy when so much had been taken away. Both have truly been lifesaving.

HopeLesley Hooked was born from this journey. Each stitch I make is a reminder that even in pain, beauty can grow.

I specialize in plant-inspired crochet, but I also love creating a wide range of unique and meaningful pieces. My work is not just about yarn—it’s about resilience, hope, and sharing a little brightness with others who might need it too.
